What Is Giclee? The French word Giclee means sprayed colour. With the Australian tongue it is generally pronounced Gee-clay. It is a print method which brings together archival pigments and high quality acid free papers and canvases. These prints are of museum quality and are accepted by the world's top Galleries. Giclee printing is best used for limited edition art reproductions, photographic and digital artists' exhibitions and historic facsimiles for museums, galleries and archives.
Photographic and Digital Art ExhibitionsGiclee is now the standard for exhibiting Photographic and Digital art, not just for its archival properties, but also for the wide range of specialty media available for the process. Large format Giclee photographic and digital art images for exhibition are especially eye catching on heavy weight art papers as these material will show no reflections. Prolab Imaging specialises in large format Giclee exhibition printing. At Prolab Imaging you can come in to our studio at anytime during business hours and view your exhibition on one of our ICC colour managed work stations which match the output of our printer. This service is very useful to the client in case any colour management issues arise. Quality is everything and we treat your work as if it were our own. |

Reproduction of Artwork on GicleeUsing the Giclee process, Prolab Imaging produces beautiful and exact reproductions from original artwork. When used in conjunction with Prolab Imaging's state of the art technology and the best colour correction methods, it is unsurpassed in the accurate and authentic looking reproduction from original artwork. The process begins with the photography of the artwork using a Better Light large format digital camera with a native resolution of 144 mega-pixels, (one of the highest resolution digital cameras in SA). Once the image has been digitised, it is then colour corrected on the computer against the original until a final proof print is made for the artist to view. We have an excellent reputation for this work locally and interstate, with artists, galleries and government departments.
